Best tea watch

Timing is an essential part of steeping tea correctly. For me, the perfect watch for this activity is the Omega Seamaster Apnea. Originally designed for free divers (in association with famous French driver Jacques Mayol, whose name is on the back of the case along with the Seamaster logo…see the 1988 movie The Big Blue). It has 7 bubbles across the top part of the dial, each filling with red as a minute elapses. This is the most visually appealing counting of minutes that I have witnessed on a watch. Next in line would be any typical chronograph. I like the vintage Heuer Carrera (before acquired by TAG) and the Omega Moon Watch. After chronographs I like simple watches with an inset second hand, like the classic Jaeger-LeCoutre Reverso (designed in the 1930’s for British army officers playing polo in India). The Reverso has the added benefit of manual winding, which is a great way to start the day. Finally, any watch with a sweeping second hand. My collection includes examples like the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Outside of mechanical watches you are on your own.
